I'm sure that many of you have heard of the Jonestown Massacre, where 29 years ago this month (November 18th 1978 is the 29th anniversary) an estimated 909 followers of a mad man named Jim Jones gave his cult followers (known as the Peoples Temple) a cocktail of multiple sedatives, tranquilizers, Chloral hydrate and Potassium cyanide in grape flavored Flavor Aid. This mass suicide was a result of a visit from a congressman to make sure how people were being treated in this encampment. Jim Jones, who was heavily using drugs, became so paranoid that he thought his only way out was this act of suicide. Well I watched this crazy fuckin documentary today on the History Channel called "Jonestown Paradise Lost" and it just completely blew my mind. Then i found these:

The Jonestown Death Tape (a 45 minute MP3 of the actual suicide taking place, Jim Jones speaking to his following the entire time)

and it's transcript that you can find here.

Really crazy that one man could have that much control over so many people in the name of God. Check this shit out if you dare, it's pretty intense stuff. Click here for more info.

"We used to think this world was -- this world was not our home -- well, it sure isn't -- We were saying -- it sure wasn't. He doesn't want to tell me. All he's doing -- if they will tell 'em -- assure these kids. Can't some people assure these children of the relaxation of stepping over to the next plane? They set an example for others. We said -- one thousand people who said, we don't like the way the world is. Take some. Take our life from us. We laid it down. We got tired. We didn't commit suicide, we committed an act of revolutionary suicide protesting the conditions of an inhumane world. "
